Spelling Bee

Learning the alphabet in the English language is one of the challenges that second-grade children have achieved significantly during the first academic period through different activities like spelling words, singing songs, coloring drawings sheets, bingo games, and among. Learning the alphabet in English through various activities allows the development of logical thinking, and long-term memory and strengthens concentration.

For this reason, the English teacher developed a small spelling contest by teams where each group had a leader, a small bag with many letters of different colors to form words, and previous knowledge. When the children were organized by teams, the teacher delivers the bag with letters to each leader and explains the instructions and rules of the game, in which they must hear a word that she said and the team had to form the word quickly and correctly.

The children were focused during the game and enjoyed working as a team. That activity was meaningful for them because they put into practice the English alphabet and vocabulary worked in class.
