4th DS' Spelling Bee
Contest

This year participants, students of various ages, face a series of increasingly difficult words according to their English level. Their task is to spell out correctly each word aloud, letter by letter. The challenge lies not only in the accurate spelling of the words but also in the ability to get language rules and exceptions.

The Spelling Bee isn't just a spelling skills competition; it's also an exercise in concentration and emotional control. Contestants must navigate the pressure of an expectant audience while mentally visualizing each word before pronouncing it. Furthermore, as they progress through the competition, the difficulty level escalates, testing their knowledge and capacity to handle tension.

The Spelling Bee promotes confidence and perseverance as contestants face challenges and overcome hurdles in each round. Also, this competition fosters a deeper connection with the language, increases vocabulary, and improves pronunciation.

During this year, there were 3 categories in this amazing spelling bee. The Category A was for students from 3rd grade to 5th grade. Category B for students from 6th grade to 8th grade. The last category for students from 9th grade to 11th grade.

In each category, we have a winner, a student who works hard and practices to reach the last stage showing their amazing skills and their love for this language.

The winners for the 4th DS SPELLING BEE were:

Juan Jose Agualimpia (Category A), Laren Manuela Castillo (Category B), Valery Sofia Hurtado (Category C).

On August 12, the second spelling bee contest for teachers and principals was presented. Days before, the participants had a list of words to practice. This day was quite competitive and productive for everyone. The activity had the 3 jurors who also participated in the students' spelling Bee activity, additionally, we had an additional jury named Andie. Some contestants participated voluntarily, others left for a raffle with some table tennis balls. During the activity, the jurors pronounced the word and the participants spelled it. At the end of the contest, the winner was the teacher Cesar Lozano.

It wasn’t easy to win but they showed that with perseverance and practice, we can achieve what we set out to do.

In conclusion, this Spelling Bee is an educational and exciting experience that highlights the significance of precise spelling, concentration, and self-assurance. Through this event, participants not only show their language skills but also inspire others to appreciate the richness and complexity of the words that surround us.
